My Mederma® box says “do not use on open wounds.” at what point is my wound considered completely closed?
A wound is completely closed when the scab falls off or the stitches are removed. You can begin to use Mederma® as soon as there is no visible scab where the wound occurred and your stitches have been removed. While there is still a scab or stitches present, keep the wound clean and covered – this will speed healing time and reduce the appearance of the resulting scar.
If I use Mederma® Scar Cream Plus SPF 30 on my face to treat acne scars, will it cause me to break out?
Everyone’s skin reacts differently to new products. Talk to your dermatologist if you're concerned about breaking out while using Mederma® Scar Cream Plus SPF 30. Your best bet is to test Mederma® on a small part of your face to see if you have a reaction to the product. If you do not have a reaction, you can then use it on scars as you see fit.

The test measures the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure it takes to cause sunburn when a person is using a sunscreen in comparison to how much UV exposure it takes to cause a sunburn when they do not use a sunscreen.

"For 2 years I wasn't able to use my left wrist properly. Me being a guitar player and about to get married, it was a
problem. I scheduled an appointment to remove a ganglion cyst from my left wrist. This scar was HUGE. I waited a
few months for it to go away on its own, that didn't happen. Luckily I ran into a nurse and asked her what she
recommended for scars, she said that I should try Mederma® Scar Cream. Thank you Mederma® for helping greatly reduce the appearance of my ghastly scar before my wedding and future concerts. :)"
-- Kristin, CA
"I have been using Mederma® Scar Cream for some time now. I'm seeing great improvement in my acne scars. I
used to wear many layers of concealer and foundation, but now I need less make up to hide my scars since they have
lightened considerably. I'm really happy with the product, it really works."
